The underlying photographs for the images depicted here were captured between 2011 and 2012 on several different personal flights, which I continually try to capture and document, leading to this series of six altered images in 2013 taken out of aeroplane windows by the only means of a mobile phone. Their titles refer to the airports and the abstract transit space in-between they were taken in and are, instead of being specific, blurred into a more general sensual feeling of being above the clouds drifting into nowhere and nothingness, making it easier for the observer to identify with the subjects regarding their sensual memory.

While travelling by air one reaches a certain point of helplessness as a result of an incapability to change or alter one's situation and trajectory, totally relying and depending on other people's decisions, which may be at the same time both freeing and scaring. The tonal value and desaturation of the images as well as their blurriness and their fading into white, interpret this silent, peaceful state experienced by myself and others on these trips outside of control and construe a meditative space in front of the photographs and around them for the viewer to inhabit and sink into.
